Reaction: The Yaoi Shelf, Episode 6

‘Ello kids. Today’s post is a reaction to The Yaoi Shelf podcast. If you haven’t heard about it before, The Yaoi Shelf is a podcast (and YouTube channel) that focuses on the Boy’s Love genre and is hosted by MommaLuvsManga and AichiYume. I’ve been meaning to write up my reactions to the podcast episodes since the beginning, but as usual with me, things get thrown onto my long-ass “to do” list. Oops. So, we’re going to just start with episode 6 and pretend that I started from #1. OK? OK! Almost every time I catch the podcast or one of their hilarious live streams, I am in some phase of cooking. With this episode, I was cooking dinner. HA!

First off, I would like Amanda to STOP aging me. Today’s episode is about shipping and they discussed the beginnings of fandom and the web. I was one of those fans in the late 90s/early 2000s in college learning how to code HTML (Hello Netscape Composer!) to create fan websites. Back in the good ole days of Angelfire, Tripod, Lycos, Geocities, etc. I recently found some of my old sites in the Wayback Machine… I shall pretend that they don’t exist. LOL

My main feelings about shipping are ship and let ship. It does seem like nowadays when people disagree about ships they make it a personal attack. Don’t like someone else’s ships? Big Whoop. But why the hell is it necessary to try to attack and make characterizations of the people who like the ship? Like telling people that they are a disturbed individual or telling them that they should die. *sigh* Can we just have fun on the internet and if you don’t like something then just float on?

I cackled when they mentioned the Dabi headcanon that he has a pierced dick. It isn’t hard to go from stapled/pierced face to the belief that he has piercings everywhere else. AND I STAND BY IT! LOL And Amanda is my best friend because I agree with Maku x Haru. “Haru is a lazy ass mermaid.” Yes, yes he is and I love him for it. BWAAAAAAAA

I have fun with their podcast and will eventually sit down and relisten to the earlier episodes and write up my reactions. If you haven’t checked out their stuff before, please do. If you have, let’s chat!

Until next time.
